Growing up in the 1980’s, Saturday Night Live was something I looked forward to watching every week. My favorite part of the show wasn’t Weekend Update or even the musical guest; it was Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy. Often lasting less than 15 seconds, these were quotable observations read in a soothing voice against a pleasant background. While there are many I remember, one I’ve been thinking a lot about lately is this one:
“It’s easy to sit there and say you’d like to have more money. And, I guess that’s what I like about it. It’s easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting that money.”
How many people have bold dreams but back it up with little or no action?
If you want something, you have to put in the work to get it – period. Things just don’t happen without effort. Even winning the lottery requires the effort of buying a ticket!
If you want more – sales, money, clients or something else – you have to burn calories to get it. Otherwise you’ll be sitting in that chair, rocking back and forth, wanting and not having.
