brandivate beverage of the week #bbotw

There are few things that are more satisfying than a cold beverage to celebrate the accomplishments of the workweek. Every Friday at 3:30 PM CDT, a brandivate team member will share their beverage of the week! Looking for past beverages? click one of the black buttons below to check out the beverage archives!

It's a very special edition of our beverage of the week here at brandivate as we await the welcoming of a new year! We felt it appropriate to hold off on popping the cork of this nice bottle of French Champagne as we want to savor it at midnight. We are sure this Marie De Moy Grand Cru Brut will be the perfect segue into the new year!

We love this holiday for a million reasons, but mainly because it is an excellent time for reflection on all of our year's accomplishments, growths, lessons learned, and ventures gained. It is also a perfect moment to manifest our intentions for the year ahead, set goals and benchmarks with which to reach them and dig deep into ourselves for what we really hope to get out of next the 12 months.

So, here's to you and your reflections, aspirations and hopeful endeavors for 2022. May they bring you everything you knew you wanted and every bit of what you didn't know you desired.

Happy New Year, friends! #bbotw

It's a Christmas Eve edition of the brandivate beverage of the week and we could think of no better beverage for a day like today than one that is mean to be shared with family and friends: Whistlepig 15 Year Rye. This rye is an ode to the past, harkening back to a time where rye whiskey dominated the United States and Canadian markets. While a young rye can sometimes have spicy untamed personas, ryes that make it over 10 years old can take on a deep, beautiful character that is sweeter and more complex than many older bourbons.

This Whistlepig 15 is a great example of an elegant, old school style rye that rewards a patient drinker with notes of oak, vanilla, soft rye spice, lemon peel, and slight barrel char. As you gather with loved ones this holiday, there’s no better beverage than the one that is shared.

From all of us at brandivate, we wish you the Merriest of Christmases! #bbotw

It's the last Friday before Santa comes to town which means this brandivate beverage of the week needs to pack a punch and the Pepino Caliente certainly delivers! A favorite from a local Mexican Food establishment, Los Cucos, doesn't disappoint. Muddled fresh slices of cucumber and jalapeno, Avion silver tequila, organic agave and fresh squeezed lime juice served on the rocks. Strong, vibrant, fresh with a kick. This one is sure to push you through your final days of shopping!

On this fine Friday we have a special version of the classic Mexican drink, The Michelada, using the newly released Frank's RedHot Bloody Mary Cocktail in a can. Why not jazz up a crowd favorite? The Michelada is generally made with beer, lime juice, spices, tomato juice and chili peppers so this variation made perfect sense. Plus, it packs a little extra punch.

The Stone Fence

If autumn were a drink, it would be apple cider. Today on the brandivate beverage of the week, we incorporate this fall favorite in a truly fabulous drink called The Stone Fence. A simple mix of apple cider, Angostura biters, and rye whiskey, this is a libation that will warm your soul with flavors of vanilla, caramel, baking spices, and, of course, apple. This is one of those drinks that proves cocktails don’t need to be complicated to be delicious.

How are you warming up by the fire this weekend? #bbotw

Ingredients

  • 2 oz rye or bourbon whiskey

  • 2 dashes Angostura biters

  • Apple cider

  • 1 mint sprig for garnish

Rumor has it they are canning up some Espresso Martinis...stay tuned.

bbotw brandivate

It’s the Friday before Halloween and time for an autumn-themed brandivate beverage of the week! Today we are enjoying a toasted pecan spiced old-fashioned made with bourbon infused with toasted pecans, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, and freshly grated nutmeg (recipe below). After a few days, the hooch was ready, and it did not disappoint! After topping with a few drops of smoked cinnamon bitters, the finished cocktail had the warm fall flavors with a hint of nutty pecan at the finish. All in all, it made us ready to well, frankly, have another one!

How are you infusing your weekend? #bbotw

Toasted Pecan Infused Bourbon

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750ml) bourbon

  • 1 cup pecan halves

  • 6 pieces of orange peel

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons of canola oil

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Coat the pecan halves in the canola oil and place on a cookie sheet and slide them into the oven. Check at 5 minutes and shake the cookie sheet to ensure even roasting. Keep checking every few minutes as pecans can burn easily and will create a bitter final product. When they are golden brown and fragrant, they are ready. Place the bourbon, toasted pecans, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and orange peel into a large mason jar and place in a cool, dark place for at least two days, shaking every 8 hours or so. You can leave the infusion for longer than two days for a more intense flavor. Once you’re satisfied with the infusion, strain the bourbon through several layers of cheesecloth into a bottle and enjoy!

Toasted Pecan Spiced Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • ¾ oz simple syrup

  • 3 oz toasted pecan infused bourbon

  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters

  • Luxardo cheery

  • Smoked cinnamon bitters

  • Orange peel for garnish

Directions

Grab an old-fashioned glass and place a Luxardo cherry in the bottom followed by one large ice cube and set aside. In a mixing glass, combine simple syrup, bourbon, Angostura bitters and fill with fresh ice. Stir for at least 30 seconds. Strain into your old-fashioned glass, express the orange peel over the glass and drop it in for garnish. Dribble four drops of smoked cinnamon bitters on top of the drink and enjoy!

Fiction Red Wine Blend

As the weather turns to fall and Halloween creeps up on the crisp air, we want to share a supple, smooth and quite tasty "fictional" wine story with you on this brandivate beverage Friday afternoon.

According to the winemakers it goes a little something like this:

As the day breaks, I load the van and set out. The highway becomes frontage road, side road, no road. Neighborhoods dwindle away; buildings give way to fields. But I'm not looking at the street anymore. Instead, my eyes are wide open, searching the horizon for lines of thick vines rolling through the hills. I know I must press on, for these lines will one day blend together to create the next vintage tale.

And what a tale this Paso Robles 2019 red blend tells mixing up 10 varietals:

  • 24% Zinfandel

  • 15% Syrah

  • 12% Alicante Bouschet

  • 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 9% Sangiovese

  • 7% Carignan

  • 7% Touriga Nacional

  • 6% Charbono

  • 6% Corvina

  • 4% Barbera

So, tell us, how are you drinking up your fiction this weekend? #bbotw

As the sun sets on another week, we are enjoying the brandivate beverage of the week in the great outdoors. More specifically, the sublime Untitled Art from Parish Brewing Company in Broussard, LA. This sublime Gulf Coast IPA purs with a hazy, dark gold color that offers a carmel and malt smell with buicuity undertones. The flavor has the same biscuit pop up front followed by a slightly bitter finish with notes of pine, mango, and peachwith a slightly boozy burn. Plus, the can graphics feature art from local Louisana painters. Truly a delightful way to bring in the weekend.

coffee tequila brandivate bbotw

Calling all tequila and coffee lovers on this Friday's edition of brandivate beverage of the week! We present to you the Brave Bull cocktail and it packs a punch. It is the tequila version of a Black Russian, but just as enjoyable. It's a fantastic sipper for happy hour, an aperitif or even after dinner drink. Being natural companions, coffee liqueur and tequila are an excellent pairing despite what you may initially think. Anytime you take a vodka mainstay drink and turn it over to the tequila side of the party you experience an extra flavor profile that only the agave of the tequila can provide. Go on, give it a tumble and let us know what you think!

brandivate cocktail bbotw

It’s Friday, and we are certainly feeling the fall vibes as we enjoy the brandivate beverage of the week! If you have followed us the past six years, you know we love the old fashioned in all its many varieties. You also know that we sometimes like to take the lazy route with the cocktail in a can. Today we combine the two with the Double Old Fashioned from the good strongs over at Post Meridiem Spirits.

This cocktail is much more than a cute can. It’s steel-walled to protect the natural and premium ingredients inside: 3 oz. straight bourbon, a blend of three bitters, 1/3 oz. Demerara Syrup and orange zest oil. When you don’t want to craft your cocktail, this is an impressive substitute, and we can’t wait to try the other options: Real Lime Margarita, 1944 Mai Tai, Lemongrass Vodka Gimlet, and the No. Four Daiquiri. We know they will be as delicious a sipper as this fine beverage.

Grape Punch Pickle Beer brandivate beverage of the week bbotw

It's time for that coveted Friday brandivate beverage tradition and we've got another Best Maid recipe darling to share with you! This beer not only grabbed our attention and turned our heads atilt, but we can't stop drinking it. A strange marriage of flavors that, well, just works! Ever heard of the southern snack "Koolickles"? Yeah, us either until we began to learn how this purple delight came to be. Apparently, a Koolickle is born when Kool-Aid packets and a smidge of sugar meet a jar of pickles. Let them marinate for a couple of days and this oddball snack is yours for the tasting! Admittedly we were quite skeptical about this 6.5% ABV brew, but Best Maid Pickles just got two new Grape Punch Pickle Beer fans on this fine Friday afternoon!

It may be the middle of September, but we are squeezing EVERY last drop out of summer and doing so while enjoying the brandivate beverage of the week! Today we are soaking in the truly sublime Shiner Ruby Redbird as we crank up the tunes and drift our cares away in the bright Tennessee sunshine. Cracking this can open is like slicing into a ripe Texas Ruby Red grapefruit. A bold kick of ginger combines with the citrus for a tart, refreshing lager that’s perfect on land or on a lake.

It's Friday afternoon and we are ready to kick our feet up here at the offices of brandivate with a nice brunchy cocktail! We have to admit that there was some serious reluctance to purchase this, but we were blown away by the flavors, spice and balance that this Best Maid Bloody Mary Wine Cocktail provides. This ready to drink pickle forward potion also taught us something we didn't know. Ever heard of a wine cocktail? Us either.

So, we went to the google machine to investigate and learned that a wine cocktail is similar to a true cocktail, made predominantly with wine - in this case Orange wine - that is combined with alcohol or other drink mixers. The notable distinction between the two is the relative amount of the various alcohols. You know, science. Every day is a school day folks!

We have a very exciting beverage of the week for any and all Texans as Yuengling is officially sold in stores and on tap at your local pub as of this week! That's right, America's oldest brewery has finally landed in the Lone Star State. This was made possible with the joint venture of D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. and the Molson Coors Beverage Company to expand the beer's reach westward. Fort Worth has the bragging rights as they are kicking off this partnership brewing up the sudsy goodness for the masses. The days of illegal smuggling of Yuengling to your front door are over. Coffee Old Fashioned

It’s Friday and time for the brandivate beverage of the week, and today we have a riddle for you: what do you get when you combine coffee with an old-fashioned in a gorgeous glass? Heaven, that’s what you get. Raising the glass to your nose, you instantly detect light caramelization with a toasted nuttiness found in the finest of cappuccinos. As the drink hits your palate, you taste the slight sweetness of the bourbon, which blends exceptionally well with the mocha flavor. The finish is clean and without a hint of heat but does contain the subtle suggestion of cocoa, giving further depth to the overall coffee essence.

Let’s face it, a lovely libation calls for an exquisite glass which is why we’re employing the stunning 11oz. Exception On The Rocks glass (#821S2) from our fabulous friends at J.Charles. The restrained hand-cut pattern combined with the striking deep-etch decoration lends additional decorum to a drink made for toasting the best of times. As you can imagine, both the drink and the glass are simply ethereal.

How are you finding your heavenly moment to usher in the weekend? #bbotw

Coffee Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • 3 oz Kentucky bourbon (we suggest Old Forester)

  • ½ oz coffee-infused maple syrup

  • ½ oz simple syrup

  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters

  • 4 drops Woodford Reserve chocolate bitters

  • Large ice cube

  • Orange peel for garnish

Directions

In a large mixing glass, combine the bourbon, both syrups, and both bitters. Fill the glass with ice and stir for 30 seconds. Place a large ice cube into an Exception On The Rocks glass and strain the cocktail over the fresh ice cube. Express the orange peel over the drink before dropping it in.

It's Friday and the brandivate beverage of the week is out in the wild in beautiful South Lake Tahoe! Sometimes there is nothing better than kicking your feet up with a cold glass of wine as you watch the world go by.

What's in the glass? A crisp and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand called Loveblock. Winemaker notes: Water white color with a hint of green and gold. Lifted aromatics with peach, fig and a hint of tomato leaf. Explosive palate with white peach, underscored with subtle herbaceous notes and linear acidity.

It’s Friday and time for the often imitated, never duplicated brandivate beverage of the week! It’s scorching hot just about everywhere in early August, so we are cooling down with a Truly Hard Seltzer Frozen Lemonade ice pop. That’s right kids, alcohol in freeze pops! We’re not going to waste your time extolling the virtues of these icy treats, but suffice to say:

  • They are VERY tasty

  • At 5% ABV, these frigid delights have a nice kick to them

  • They are a dieters dream at only 80 calories per pop

Truly (see what we did there), there may be no better way to cool down on a hot, humid day!

Golden Prosecco

All that glitters is gold here at the offices of brandivate on this fine Friday, and we would be remiss if we did not take this opportunity to tip our hats to all of the amazing Olympians chasing their lifelong dreams in Tokyo right now! We have had an exciting week watching all of the incredible athletes shine and are positively giddy that there’s another action-packed week ahead!

In their honor, we have chosen a bubbly variety brought to us by the winemakers over at FitVine! They believe that we should know what's in each glass of wine we drink, and they do so by sharing what's in each of their bottles – from low sugar content to calories and carbs. We love their slogan, "Live Your Fit. For healthy people who want to enjoy their wine - and feel good about it". It almost makes drinking healthy!

We decided to go for the gold ourselves when it comes to this Prosecco by adding some brew glitter! This edible glitter adds the necessary shimmery glitz, sparkle, and dare we say, glamour to the proceedings and we had to share the discovery with all of you! There are a a rainbow of colors just waiting to brighten up any boozy beverage to truly make it a fun, festive, and golden delight!

Blanton's Single Barrel

It’s Friday and time for the brandivate beverage of the week. However, it’s not just your normal, run-of-the-mill Friday. No, it’s the Friday of brandvocate week 2021 and we are celebrating by raising a glass of Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon in gratitude to each and every one of you who have supported Kelsey and Bill in this entrepreneurial journey:

  • Aaron Cunningham and Sandy Petrie (and both our families)

  • The investor who shared in our vision from day one

  • The countless friends who have believed in us

  • Our amazing brandvocates who, even today, share the brandivate love

  • The promotional products industry who has embraced us

  • Our truly fabulous clients who allow us the privilege to work with them every day

Angry John Daly

We have a fizzy twist on a summer favorite for you this week with what we are calling the Angry John Daly! Refreshing, bubbly and with a touch of caffeine this cocktail will surely cool you down -  whether you're gripping and ripping on the course or lounging poolside. John Daly famously said "I learned you can't drink whiskey and play golf" so we here at brandivate figured why not try HIS theory with some Vodka instead?

Much like John Daly did for golf, we wanted to turn the beverage this week on its side which is why we are enjoying it in the 13oz Deluxe Hiball (#814E) from our good pals at J.Charles. We love how the full brandivate logo looks with the signature deep etch decoration and how it stands out – like the legendary golfer himself – by utilizing the full length of the decoration area.

The recipe is as simple as it is delicious:

  • 1 ½ ounces vodka

  • 1 part unsweetened black tea

  • 1 part sparkling lemonade (we highly recommend the Trader Joe’s variety)

  • 1 lemon wheel for garnish

  • 1 sprig of fresh mint for garnish

Fill your glass with ice and combine the vodka, tea and lemonade. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a few mint leaves. Enjoy!

There are three types of libation lazy:

  1. The “I’ll Just Make a Jack and Coke” Lazy

  2. The “Full Cocktail in a Can” Lazy

  3. The “Two Ingredient Cocktail in a Can” Lazy

Today on the brandivate beverage of the week, we celebrate slacking souse number three by enjoying a premade gin and tonic from the good folks at Bombay Sapphire. Here’s where we usually wax poetic about how the subtle flavors of the gin combine with the refreshing brightness of the gin to create a lovely summer sip. While that’s all true, we’d rather focus on the convenience of the can to make a hot day just a little more tolerable.

The King of Beers

June 25, 2021

coconut mojito.jpeg

Coconut Mojito

It’s officially summer which means we need something refreshing to cool us down at the end of the week. After searching high and low, we’ve found the ideal brandivate beverage of the week to accomplish precisely that: the coconut mojito! This tropical twist on the Cuban classic is everything you’re looking for in a tropical drink. The molasses-kissed brown sugar adds a warmth of complexity to the rum and coconut cream, while the mint and lime are like a welcome cool breeze of acidity and freshness. The effervescence of the club soda to finish the cocktail makes this eminently quaffable whether your toes are in the sand or walking through the freshly cut lawn of your backyard.

How are you tropicaling into the weekend? #bbotw

Ingredients

  • 6 mint leaves

  • 1 oz lime juice

  • 1 barspoon light brown sugar

  • 2 oz light rum

  • 1 oz coconut rum

  • 1 ½ oz cream of coconut

  • Club Soda

Directions

Place mint leaves, granulated sugar, lime juice, and cream of coconut into a collins glass. Using a muddler, press and gently twist the mint leaves on the bottom and sides of the glass. Stop muddling when the mint is bruised and fragrant, but not yet torn as tearing the mint too much can create a bitter taste.

Add the rums and fill the glass ¾ full with ice cubes or crushed ice. Fill the remainder of the glass with club soda and stir to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.

Spicy Margarita Cloud

Is there anything better than enjoying the brandivate beverage of the week every Friday? Possibly, but there’s no point in burning calories trying, especially when it’s a drink that might define the summer of 2021: the spicy margarita cloud. Yes, we’ve highlighted various margarita recipes before but never like this for the sole fact we created a spicy Cadillac foam to heighten the experience using a whipper.

We started with a classic margarita recipe using fresh lime and lemon juice, Cointreau, simple syrup, and, of course, tequila. However, we wanted to elevate this drink with our new toy: the aforementioned whipper. We filled it with egg whites, Grand Marnier, orange juice, and Hella smoked chili bitters, then charged it with NO2. We laid the foam in the glass before pouring the strained margarita over the cloud, which infused the drink with deliciousness. Part of the presentation was watching the foam cloud rise to the top of the cocktail. We then garnished with Hawaiian black lava sea salt and a lime wheel. The slight spiciness of the foam wonderfully complimented the tart, bracing blast of tequila and lime with each sip. Truly a fantastic experience, and you can rest assured we will be trying more foams in the future.

How are you floating into the weekend? #bbotw

Spicy Margarita Cloud

  • 2 oz tequila

  • 1 oz Cointreau

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice

  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice

  • ½ oz simple syrup

  • Lime wheel for garnish

  • Hawaiian black lava sea salt for garnish

Spicy Cadillac Foam

  • 2 egg whites, lightly beaten

  • 2 oz Grand Mariner

  • 4 oz orange juice, finely strained

  • 6 dashes Hella smoked chili bitters

Directions

Combine all foam ingredients into your whipper and shake 5-10 times to incorporate, then charge with one NO2 cartridge. Place in the refrigerator to keep cool. Tip: the foam can be made hours in advance and will keep for at least a week if kept cool in your chill chest.

Shake all the margarita ingredients together over cracked ice. Fill your glass 1/3 full with the foam and carefully pour your strained drink into the cloud – it will rise to the top of the beverage while it infuses it with additional flavor. Fill in any empty foam gaps, sprinkle the top with the black lava sea salt, and garnish with a lime wheel.

WhistlePig 10 Year Rye

It’s Friday, right in the middle of graduation season, so you know it’s time for the one and only brandivate beverage of the week! Being in a celebratory mood, we are enjoying one of the finest rye whiskies on the planet in our equally impressive Glencairn Glass (#333S2) from our good friends at J.Charles! The glass is beloved by whiskey drinkers worldwide because it’s designed to show off the color and aroma of the libation, which allows full appreciation of the complex flavor profile of the spirit. Plus, the addition of that gorgeous deep etch decoration from J.Charles showcases the brand in a treasured keepsake glass that will create memories with every dram.

If you’re not familiar with WhistlePig, it’s time to expand your horizons. They have a single goal of creating the world’s finest rye whiskeys, and with this Single Barrel 10 Year version, they may have done it. As the Glencairn glass is raised, waves of oak, rye grain, dark cherry, pear, roasted rosemary, fennel, and star anise envelop the nose. When the lips meet the tipped glass, they are met with an explosion of intense rye character along with caraway seed, toasted cinnamon, and a pleasant oakiness that defines a good rye. The finish is smooth with hints of toasted grain and faint tobacco.

At 106 proof, the WhistlePig Single Barrel 10 Year is most definitely a beverage that should be enjoyed in a proper glass while making lasting memories and celebrating with family and friends.

adios pantalones.jpg

It’s the final Friday of April, and you know it’s time for the brandivate beverage of the week! While we could go for one of the more obvious drink choices this week – Mint Julep for the Kentucky Derby tomorrow or a margarita for Cinco de Mayo next week – that’s not the way we roll here at brandivate. So instead, we are enjoying a great beer with a better name: Adios Pantalones from Rahr & Sons Brewing Company in Texas. This Mexican-inspired lager is light, crisp, and clean with citrusy notes and a light body as it’s brewed with both lemon and lime. The best news of all? Pants are optional.

Dirty Texas 'Tini.jpg

The Dirty Texas 'Tini

It’s Friday afternoon and time to celebrate the arrival of the weekend by joining us by savoring a brandivate beverage of the week with us! This week we are putting a spicy twist on a classic dirty martini with the Texas ‘Tini! Regardless of the libation you indulge in today, it will look and taste sublime in the 10 oz Lyrica Martini Glass (#3042S2) from our good friends at J.Charles. Not only is the deep etching the most elegant way to showcase a brand, the generous size and long stem will keep your concoction cold while you sip your stress away in a dignified manner.

Made with Tito’s Vodka, olives, and olive juice (full recipe below), this peppery potable has not one, but two, secret weapons hidden in the olives. First, they are grilled, adding an earthy, smoky flavor that genuinely elevates the drink. Second, that’s no pimento hidden in the green fruit – those are jalapenos, and they add JUST the right kick making this a beverage to be savored as you unwind from the pressures of the week.

How are you putting a spicy spin on your weekend? #bbotw

The Southside

With the onset of spring and the promise of warmer temperatures, we are taking a lighter spin on today’s brandivate beverage of the week with the bright and delicious Southside. While there are as many variations as origin stories, this version is vivid, radiant, and bright with the delicious combination of dry gin, fresh lime juice, and just enough mint to add a touch of fresh flavor. This potent potable is perfect for the porch or patio all day long.

How are you shining into the weekend? #bbotw

Michelada

It’s Friday – a Good Friday – and time for the brandivate beverage of the week! This week we are enjoying one of the most refreshing and bracingly flavorful beer drinks on the planet: the Michelada. Think of it as a Mexican Bloody Mary – but far bolder and more flavorful – that must be savored in a sturdy, handled beer vessel like the 13 oz. ARC Distinction Beer Mug (#A77346) from our friends at Bel Promo. Plus, we love the way the logo pops against the slightly coral hue of the spicy drink.

The fiery brew/cocktail is made from a mixture of cold Mexican lager, Clamato, fresh lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce, which brings a balance of bold acidity with the noticeable heat. The Clamato and soy sauce add a deep umami flavor giving the drink further depth of flavor, while the hot sauce brings some kick to the party. Finally, adding the right amount of fresh lime juice keeps the drink exhilaratingly tart and fresh, while the salted lime rim ensures every sip of hie bold beverage is perfect.

How are you boldly going into the weekend? #bbotw

Ingredients

  • 6 oz of Mexican Lager

  • 6 oz of Clamato juice

  • 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce

  • 3 dashes of soy sauce

  • 5 dashes of hot sauce

  • Juice of ½ lime

Directions

Rim your 13 oz. ARC Distinction Beer Mug with Tajin or, as we prefer, Hardcore Carnivore Meat Chelada Texas Chili Lime Rub. Fill the glass with ice and set it aside. Pour the Clamato, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, and hot sauce into the glass. Top the mixture with the beer, garnish with a lime, and feel chill wash over you.
