Welcome back to another edition of our brandivate beverage of the week! We are trying out a new find in the cocktail in a can section of the liquor store today. Do we have any mezcal fans out there? This Smoky Margarita is brought to us by the fine folks over at Crafthouse Cocktails and boy did they nail the recipe. They have taken the iconic Margarita to the next level using traditional Oaxacan mezcal and Premium blanco tequila to create the base of this delicious drink and pair it up with the perfect amount of smoke, agave and fresh lime juice. You may never want to drink the original recipe again! Absolutely delicious.

Crafthouse Smoky Margarita

It’s Friday, time for the brandivate beverage of the week, and frigid just about everywhere! In our efforts to stay toasty, we are enjoying a simple, yet delicious, beverage as we sit by the fire: El fuego de chocolate caliente! Simply make yourself some hot cocoa (and use milk and a quality mix) and pour in an ample amount of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire. The cinnamon flavor of the whiskey adds a really nice kick – and flavor – to the proceedings which truly helps warm the soul.

El Fuego de Chocolate Caliente!

We have a first on the brandivate beverage of the week today as we showcase a wine club exclusive. As recent subscribers to First Leaf, we are new to the monthly shipments of wine curated to our tastes. If you haven't already heard of Firstleaf they offer a user experience unlike any other wine club providing a quiz to onboard you at the start, then follow up with a wine concierge to conduct an interview for your preferences, tastes, likes and dislikes. Our favorite part - they give you the opportunity to rate and comment on every bottle in your shipment to further tailor your next selections. A very cool concept that we are just getting to know and we are absolutely loving it!
Today we have the 2020 Cassiday Blare Petite 85% Sirah - 15% Zinfandel Blend from King City, California. Notes of blackberry, black cherry and baking spices make this bold and powerful wine appeal to the masses and can easily be a daily drinker.
A little story from the label:
"Known as the man in the green hat, George Cassiday was an infamous bootlegger. A stylish hat, a stash of booze, and a clientele that included two-thirds of the lawmakers on Capitol Hill throughout the era of Prohibition. He published his story in the Washington Post in 1930 and told all, except names. Three years later, Prohibition was repealed, and gratefully eight decades later, we continue to enjoy our freedom."

2020 Cassiday Blare Petite Sirah

It’s Friday and it’s cold and/or icy just about everywhere so it’s time for a brandivate beverage of the week that will keep you toasty and warm! This week, we are enjoying a smoked old fashioned – but not just any smoked old fashioned. No, we are using a smoking gun and a cloche to infuse natural smoke into the beverage itself.
After making the old fashioned with the stunningly delicious Piggy Back rye from Whistlepig, we put the cocktail in the cloche and fired up the smoking gun (using pecan wood chips) and filled the cloche with that gorgeous, intoxicating smoke. Then, we let it sit for two minutes as the drink and the smoke melded together to create a winter warmer unlike any other. Plus, pulling the lid off the cloche to allow that smoke to escape is pretty cool!

Tequila Shots in Vegas!

As we prepare to head out of the snow and to Las Vegas for PPAI Expo, we still take time to enjoy the brandivate beverage of the week! Today we are enjoying a hot, brewed cocktail from the good strongs over at Cask & Kettle. More specifically, we are keeping warm with Mexican Coffee that was freshly made in our Keurig.
This cocktail has an aromatic bouquet and nuanced combination of flavors to please any sophisticated palate. The smooth mouthfeel and light agave flavor of silver tequila combined with darker notes of roasted coffee and a whisper of Mexican chocolate at the finish just warms the soul on a snowy day. And, at a full 60 proof, this drink provides that right kick to keep you moving!
