Blueberry beer

Welcome to Friday afternoon, folks! We have a "Texas Blonde with Blue Highlights" for you to sip on today from a local craft brewery straight from Galveston Bay.

Texas beaches aren't quite the same as Florida's. Industry replaces most condos and our sand needs whitener. But, one kiss from our blueberry blonde ale and you'll think you're in the Caribbean. This coastal treat delivers a light, thirst-quenching flavor, starting with fresh blueberries before fermentation. Kick off your sandals, get your feet wet and be seduced by this blonde!

The Seasons Change

It’s Friday at 3:30 PM, which means it’s damn near quitting time….but absolutely on time for the brandivate beverage of the week! As summer starts fading into autumn, we wanted to have a simple concoction in alignment with the transition to cooler temperatures: The Seasons Change. While most people think of apples and apple cider when it comes to fall, we at brandivate like to think differently, so we are using a different autumnal fruit in the pear. By mixing the pear’s sublime taste with the intoxicating and aromatic notes of vanilla, one creates an amalgamation of the soon to be harvest. This is an easy – and tasteful – sipper for those cooler evenings.

How are you celebrating the end of a successful week? #bbotw

Recipe: The Seasons Change

  • 3 oz. Pear Juice

  • 1 ½ oz Vanilla Vodka

  • Pear (for garnish)

Directions

In a shaker, combine pear juice, vodka, and ice. Shake for at least 20 seconds. Pour over ice in an old-fashioned glass and garnish with a slice of pear.

Derby Day

A proper mint julep

Yes, we know it’s not Friday but sometimes we just like to mix it up a bit and present a supplemental brandivate beverage of the week. Today, we recognize that a proper American tradition deserves a proper cocktail made the original way which means that with an hour to post time at the Kentucky Derby, we are sipping on a classic mint julep. For a cocktail with simple ingredients, it’s deceptively complex and downright delicious.

How are you trotting into post time at 6:02 PM CDT? #bbotw

Recipe: Mint Julep

  • 5 – 7 mint leaves

  • ½ teaspoon of sugar

  • 2 ½ ounces Kentucky bourbon

  • Mint sprig for garnish

Directions

Place the mint leaves and sugar into your silver julep cup. Muddle to dissolve the sugar and release the oil and aroma of the mint. Pour in the bourbon and fill the glass with crushed ice. Stir well until the glass becomes frosty, garnish with a mint spring, and enjoy!

Una paloma deliciosa

It’s not just Friday – it’s the traditional last day of summer AND the Friday before a long weekend, so you know it’s time for the brandivate beverage of the week! This week we are sipping on a true Mexican classic and one of the most refreshing libations on either side of the Rio Grande: La Paloma Suprema. Named after the Spanish word for dove, it’s an exquisite combination of tequila, lime juice, and grapefruit soda. It’s sweet, sour, a little bitter, and salty – it’s got all four taste groups plus ice from Sonic, bubbles, and, of course, booze; what’s not to like. It doesn't hurt that it's the favorite drink of "The King," George Strait.

A huge thanks to our friends at Webb Company for the gorgeous stainless flat bottle opener (#SFBBO), which made opening that grapefruit soda a breeze!
